Sa Cova des Càrritx

This cave is located in the Barranco de Algendar (barranco = ravine). It is an archeologically very interesting place.

Discoveries in this cave have shed new light on the social life of prehistoric communities on Menorca and allowed the presence of humans to be dated back to about 2000 before Christ, which means, some 4,000 years ago.

Objects made of wood, metal, bones and ceramics were found in this cave. The finds can be seen in the Ciutadella Municipal Museum.

The cave is closed to the general public.
